Cutting back on the processed sugar and missing that night time Ben and Jerry’s?
Kristy over at the Naked Kitchen has a solution. Use frozen bananas and get a substitute you might like even more than a pint of your traditional treat…
For Banana Blackberry Ice Cream
-
2 medium sized ripe bananas
-
8 blackberries
-
4 peach slices
-
1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
-
1/4 tsp cinnamon
For Chocolate Banana Ice Cream
-
2 medium sized ripe bananas
-
1 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup (optional)
-
2 tbsp cocoa powder
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 tbsp peanut butter (optional)
For Banana Sweet Potato Ice Cream
-
2 medium sized ripe bananas
-
1/4 sweet potato
-
1 tsp cinnamon
-
1/8 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
-
2 tbsp coconut milk
-
2 tbsp chopped pecans (optional)
All you need is a food processor, the listed ingredients, and a sweet tooth.
Cut up all your bananas, other fruits and veggies and place them in a plastic bag in the freezer. Make sure to cook the sweet potato before you freeze it. Then just start with the bananas and place them in your food processor on pulse until you begin to see the “soft-serve” type consistency and begin tossing in your other frozen ingredients. Last should be your spices, milk, and nuts.
Enjoy…
