What is BMI?

The body mass index (BMI), is a simple mathematical formula used to evaluate an individuals risk of hypokinetic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. The BMI is based on an individual’s weight and height and does not actually measure the percentage of body fat. While the Body Mass Index is a great tool for quickly assessing your height to weight ratio, it doesn’t account for lean muscle tissue which is why our trainers always perform a body fat assessment in addition to BMI during initial assessments.
